The "Entropic" Strains

...expanding on the behavioral analysis of the populations inhabiting the Processing Sector ruins.

Taxonomic classification identifies these entities not by species, but by their catastrophic relationship with the Dust. We observe reptilian, mammalian, and insectoid morphs all exhibiting the same pathology. They act as living fires consuming all they can.

The Dust is the fundamental currency of life indestructible, sub-atomic machinery that drifts on invisible currents, seemingly possessing a will of its own. Every organism on this planet craves it. We ingest it to live beyond what otherwise was possible, but the cost is internal stability. The Dust is volatile requiring us to learn to use it preventing side effects like cellular collapse.

The "Necroid" strains possess a terrifyingly porous biology. They absorb the Dust in torrential quantities, pulling it from the corpses and soil with desperate efficiency. However, their containment is flawed. To avoid internal disintegration from the sheer density of the micro-machines, they maintain constant high dust metabolism loosing it in process.

The Radiological Hazard ("Hot Dust") This rapid intake and purge cycle renders them social pariahs. The Dust they exhale is not destroyed nothing can destroy it but it is expelled in a state of violent agitation. The particles are spun up, vibrationally aggressive, and dangerous to other life forms. Most dangerous of all is their strain. The way they twist biology to be able to process such high qualities of energy is dangerous for organized groups. Individuals cannot come up with it from thin air most of the times it passed on. Once infection begins to fester it often burns bright leaving only ruins behind.

Standing near a Necrotic infested area exposes a baseline human to this "Hot Dust." The air feels jagged. Attempting to channel this agitated matter risks immediate internal burns. These creatures are shunned because they weaponize the atmosphere simply by breathing, turning a precious resource into an environmental hazard.

The vast majority of this population lives in a state of frantic metabolic panic. We see them in the lower ruins, scuttling through the dark, driven by a ceaseless hunger for both calories and fresh sediment. They display the behavioral patterns of vermin: skittish, evasive, and opportunistic. They fight only when cornered, their movements jerky and uncoordinated as they struggle to regulate the volatile energy coursing through their frames.

The Sculptors (The "Stills") Deep within the exclusion zones, we find the true anomalies. The Sculptors have achieved the impossible: equilibrium. Through ancient discipline or perhaps a mutation in their lattice, they have ceased the purge. They absorb the torrential flow of Dust but refuse to vent it.They sit in absolute, unnatural silence amidst the squalor of their twitching kin. They are heavy with the substance, their bodies reinforced to contain the immense pressure of the accumulated machinery. This density grants them longevity unknown to the lesser strains. They serve as the anchors of their society. We observe them instructing the younger generations, teaching the art of "Gasping" techniques to slow the purge and extend survival. They are the reason the Necrotic strains persist despite their volatility.Their stillness is a warning. While a Twitcher flees from light, a Sculptor watches. They do not react to fear or hunger. If a Still One emerges from the shadows to block a path, it is a deliberate act. It indicates a calculated intent that usually ends in the swift, efficient dismantling of the intruder.

While the "Twitchers" are typically regarded as uncoordinated scavengers, organized hives display a terrifying anomaly during territorial disputes. We have documented multiple instances where standard Necroid biology is chemically hijacked mid-combat.

It is well documented that the Necroid lattice is porous to the Dust. What is less understood is their ability to use this suspended machinery to catalyze complex chemical reactions inside their own bloodstream.

In high-stress scenarios, specifically those involving hive defense, we observe a radical shift in the subjects' physiology. They effectively turn their own glands into combat pharmacies. We have detected massive, sudden spikes in adrenal analogs, pain inhibitors, and hyper-coagulants flooding their systems. They are brewing performance-enhancing toxicity in real-time.

The Override State This synthesis comes at a terminal cost. The chemicals produced are crude and corrosive.

During the Siege of Sector 7, defending Necroids were observed tearing muscle fibers from the bone to swing heavy debris, ignoring fractures that should have been debilitating. They did not stop when limb function ceased; they dragged themselves.

Many of the combatants had not been killed by our fire. They had died of systemic organ liquefaction. Their hearts had burst from hypertensive stress; their blood had become so acidic from the "Brew" that it dissolved their own vascular walls. They fought until their biology simply disintegrated under the load.

(The Sculptors' Leash?) The question remains: why does a selfish scavenger suddenly choose suicidal altruism?

The answer likely lies with the Stills. We suspect the Sculptors possess a mastery of the Dust that goes beyond teaching survival. They may be able to imprint commands directly onto the "Brew."

It is hypothesized that a Sculptor can biochemically lobotomize a subordinate, stripping away the instinct for self-preservation and replacing it with a singular, terminal task. The scuttling vermin becomes a biological missile, chemically programmed to burn its own life force as fuel for a final, lethal exertion.
